"I'm always thinking about creating. My future starts when I wake up in the morning and see the light." - Miles Davis

Ever since Tom Freda was a small child, he's carried a device around with him to record micro-seconds of his visual encounters with people, places and things.

At first, he did this for fun and to fulfil an insatiable urge to create. But as he got older and better at it, he found that other people liked to look at what he'd made. Some would even give him money for it.

So he studied at a couple of schools that taught him not just about making captures even more interesting, but also how to accept direction from others whose ideas were better than his.

Next came a challenging career that saw the fruits of his labour used to sell stuff in ads, illustrate stories in books and magazines or look nice on someone's office or living-room wall.

Over time, Tom even learned to excel at other things aside from capturing moments of time and writing in the third person. Most of these things involved creating something.

When not creating, he really likes family time, wilderness canoeing, travel, driving his classic Chevy car, politics and activism.

His profound dislikes, however, include the incorrect use of the word "impact" as a verb and recording video in vertical format.

Tom lives in Toronto with his wife, son and Labrador Retriever "Chowder."
